A quiet explorer meets a stubborn person inside a storm. RCOEI believes everything connects to everything else. RLUAN believes only the truth they've already arrived at, and the storm doesn't shake it.
The opening stretch is easy — both prefer silence, neither one demands chatter. RCOEI is genuinely impressed that RLUAN doesn't bend their conviction for anyone, including the room. RLUAN is relieved that RCOEI isn't trying to convert them to anything. As long as they each work in their own territory, the friction stays low. Two strong centers of gravity, holding their own orbits.
RCOEI's private self keeps wanting to weave more in. RLUAN's private self holds the conviction "this is wrong and I'm right" and isn't interested in renegotiating. So when RCOEI explains "this connects to that, and that connects to this other thing," RLUAN says "okay, I don't really care, I'm going my way." RCOEI gets quietly frustrated that RLUAN dismisses the discovery. RLUAN finds RCOEI's connection-making basically meaningless — pretty patterns that don't change anything real.
Going their separate ways feels the most natural here. Eating dinner together, RCOEI starts "this links to that other thing too" and RLUAN says "yeah, I'll keep doing my thing" while taking another bite. No hurt feelings, no invasion — a parallel kind of closeness that doesn't pretend to be something else.
“If RLUAN can say "you do your connecting, I'll go my own way" and mean it without contempt, and RCOEI can say "we're different, but just existing side by side is its own kind of connection," this pair becomes parallel without being lonely.”
