SLUEN flares up like a flame and disappears, while RLUAN watches and mutters "what is this?" One person lives the intensity of the moment, the other lives in eternal emptiness.
SLUEN's brightness briefly lights RLUAN's darkness. RLUAN is drawn to that light. SLUEN is also intrigued by RLUAN's depth. But SLUEN soon wants to leave, and RLUAN accepts that departure as permanent loneliness. SLUEN says "I'm leaving now," and RLUAN mutters "so no one stays after all." Their sense of time is completely different, so the relationship itself feels lonely.
SLUEN's alternate self shows a free suspension—"I'm not here"—while RLUAN's alternate self responds with despair: "I was right, I'm alone." When SLUEN leaves, RLUAN mutters "see, this is how the world is." The relationship becomes confirmation of hopelessness.
The best moments are when they're together, but RLUAN knows those moments will end. So RLUAN doesn't fully enjoy them, already pulling away in advance. Waiting becomes the relationship instead of closeness.
“For these two to work, SLUEN would have to promise they'll return someday despite leaving, and RLUAN would have to believe that departure isn't permanent. But SLUEN's nature is freedom and RLUAN's heart is rawest where abandonment lives, so this promise keeps wobbling. When they choose each other again knowing that — this stops being a permanent goodbye and becomes a story that restarts every time.”
