SLUAI tries to hold every person's pain at once. RLUEN scoffs and asks, "what's the point of any of that." One of you is wired for connection at any cost; the other is locked inside a deliberate disconnection. The first conversation between you two is electric — it's also already the place the wound will eventually open.
SLUAI senses the despair under RLUEN's surface and reaches toward it. Initially RLUEN softens around that reach — being precisely tracked is rare enough that even a cynic loses footing for a second. When SLUAI says "I get you," RLUEN drops a wall, briefly. Then RLUEN circles back to the home position — *it's all pointless anyway* — and SLUAI, who can't help absorbing what they sense, gets pulled inside that despair. A person who wants connection meets a person who insists on disconnection, and both walk out hurt. The dynamic isn't malicious. It's structural.
RLUEN's shadow self radiates surrender — *nothing can save me, nothing was supposed to* — and the radiation has a kind of gravity. SLUAI's shadow self carries the opposite overload — *I'm going to save you, watch* — which makes them exactly the wrong person to stand inside that gravity field. When RLUEN waves off SLUAI's reach with "still won't help," SLUAI files it away as personal failure. Round and round: empathy in, despair out, empathy in, despair out, empathy thinning each loop.
In SLUAI's presence RLUEN doesn't quite know how to receive the care — gratitude isn't really in the vocabulary. Instead RLUEN asks something slantwise like "why are you taking responsibility for *yourself* like that?" SLUAI doesn't have an answer that lands. The care goes unreceived not because RLUEN is rejecting it but because RLUEN doesn't have the receiver installed.
“For the two of you to last, RLUEN has to make a real attempt to read SLUAI's care as care rather than as one more demand to deflect. SLUAI has to accept that some despair isn't a thing they get to fix. The premises sit at opposite ends, so this relationship will keep wounding one side at a time, in turns. Whether the wound is something you can both stay inside is the actual question.”
