SLUAI loves everyone. RCUAN needs no one. SLUAI walks in almost as a dare to themselves — "can I love this one too?" RCUAN watches and thinks, "this love is just one more feeling passing through."
RCUAN's indifference proves to SLUAI that distance can exist without rejection. SLUAI starts to hope that with RCUAN, their own love won't become a burden. RCUAN, receiving that unconditional warmth, even begins to wonder "I might actually want someone." Together, SLUAI learns to dial their love down to a livable volume, and RCUAN finds something like steadiness inside it. But every time RCUAN moves to step away, SLUAI gets hurt.
When SLUAI starts building a house and says "stay with me," RCUAN says "I will, but I can leave anytime." SLUAI hears that line as a prophecy: "this means you will leave me eventually." RCUAN's freedom is meant as proof that SLUAI's love isn't a prison — but to SLUAI it lands as refusal.
The easiest moments come when RCUAN, on their own, says "I want you," and SLUAI receives that choice as a gift instead of a baseline. In those minutes, the warmth is real. But the second that moment ends, RCUAN is already preparing to drift again.
“For these two to last, "choice" and "obligation" have to be untangled. SLUAI needs to feel that RCUAN's freedom isn't a refusal of their love but the thing that makes it a real choice. RCUAN needs to learn that their independence and SLUAI's love can coexist. Then SLUAI's love stops being a cage and finally becomes a home.”
